Assistant Director, Educational & Engagement Technology
I support faculty and staff in using technology to strengthen teaching, learning, and student engagement.

Devon Barker is an Assistant Director of Educational Technology at the Yale Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning, where he supports the thoughtful use of technology across teaching, learning, and student engagement. His work includes supporting Canvas and its integrated tools, Yale Connect, and other educational technologies used by faculty, staff, and students across the university.

Devon works closely with faculty and university partners to identify technology solutions, pilot new tools, support adoption, and translate technical capabilities into practical approaches for teaching and learning. His background as a K-12 educator shapes his pedagogical approach, particularly his focus on how technology supports learning goals, classroom practice, and the student experience. He brings more than a decade of experience in education and educational technology to this work. A growing focus of Devon’s work is Artificial Intelligence in teaching and learning. He helps evaluate and implement emerging AI technologies at Yale and works with faculty and staff to understand how AI can be used effectively and responsibly in the classroom. This includes helping instructors explore AI as a teaching and learning tool, develop activities and approaches that incorporate AI, and consider strategies, technologies, and course policies for limiting its use when it does not align with their learning goals.

Devon holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado and a master’s degree in STEAM Education from Concordia University, Nebraska. He is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Social and Emotional Learning at National University.
