Academic Continuity: Engaging Students through Class Polling

Event Description

Many Yale instructors have developed new ways of engaging students during remote instruction, such as Zoom chat and polling features. As we consider this semester’s transition from remote to in-person instruction, how can we continue to foster student engagement? This workshop (held on Zoom) will explore Poll Everywhere, a Yale-supported classroom polling platform that functions well in both in-person and remote contexts. Participants will experience learning options first-hand from the student perspective, including multiple choice polls and Q&A boards, and explore related ideas for asynchronous approaches. Participants will discuss best practices with colleagues and Poorvu Center staff.

The Poorvu Center is committed to hosting inclusive and accessible events that enable all individuals, including those disabilities, to engage fully. If you have questions about access or anticipate needing an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact us at faculty.teaching@yale.edu. Advance notice may be necessary to accommodate some accessibility needs. — Event Details: https://yaleconnect.yale.edu/rsvp?id=1398181
