Event Description

How and when do we discuss religion and spiritual belief in the classroom? How do the cultures of students and instructors impact their experience of class discussions? This ATW focuses on the explicit and implicit role religion and culture play in the classroom, for individual students and for the classroom environment. Participants will be invited to consider the particularities of how their discipline approaches issues of religion and culture, and how to develop structure and permission for students to engage in productive and often personal conversations about beliefs. For questions, please contact Chris Forney (christopher.forney@yale.edu) or Adam Viera (adam.viera@yale.edu).  This ATW counts towards the Poorvu Center’s Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP) requirement for workshops on the topic of inclusion and diversity.
