Event Description

Have you ever found yourself excited about a new pedagogical principle, but struggling to imagine putting it into practice in your own classroom? Theories of teaching and learning are useful tools for imagining ideal classrooms as they could be and identifying shortcomings in classrooms as they are, but we can sometimes be overwhelmed when considering where to begin making change in our own classroom. In this workshop, we will examine the constraints and challenges instructors face in bringing pedagogical best practices to life. We will share strategies for identifying opportunities to improve areas of your teaching practice, developing manageable improvements on existing practice, and assessing the effectiveness of new teaching techniques. Participants will leave this workshop with frameworks and tools for developing their teaching practice sustainably and iteratively.
