Is this your first time teaching a class or section in the social sciences? Are you looking for a community with whom to reflect on translating what we’ve learned about accessible teaching during the pandemic for the return to in-person and/or hybrid teaching? This workshop is designed to help new and returning TFs in the social sciences build confidence in the classroom, develop concrete pedagogical and critical reflection skills about their teaching practice, and share strategies for equitable and effective teaching in the social sciences. In our first session, we will discuss strategies for the first day of section, as well as the basics of lesson planning and design. Later sessions will focus on creating supportive and equitable classroom environments, fostering student engagement and active learning, and soliciting and giving feedback and assessment.
