Event Description

This workshop offers an introduction to aspects of student and instructor identity - including race, gender, ethnicity, and religion - and their role in the classroom. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own identities and where they come from, while also considering what their students bring to the learning environment. It helps to lay the groundwork for additional ITWs and ATWs like Gender in the classroom, Practicing Anti-Racist Pedagogy, and others. Intermediate Teaching Workshops do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC. For questions, contact Sara Misgen (sara.misgen@yale.edu) or Gina Hurley (gina.hurley@yale.edu).
