Fundamentals of Teaching, Equitable Pedagogy (Online) (4 Sessions - 10/12, 19, 26, & 11/2)
Are you aiming to foster an equitable and supportive classroom environment? Are you hoping to design lesson plans, assignments/activities, and student feedback modalities that are accessible and engaging to a wide breadth of students? Reflecting on the historical and structural contexts of the classroom, in this four-part (online) series, we will learn to apply evidence-based teaching strategies (including backwards design, metacognition, and scaffolding techniques) to become familiar with the scholarship on equitable teaching and consider how inequity shapes our disciplines and the academy. Participation in at least three of these sessions is required for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP). For more information, contact session organizers Precious Muhammad (precious.muhammad@yale.edu) and Reed Mszar (reed.mszar@yale.edu).
