Designing your own course from scratch can seem like a daunting task. Knowing where to start, what to focus on, and how to build a curriculum that is both inclusive and engaging are essential to successful course design; this workshop is aimed at helping you hone these skills. We will review some foundational pedagogical concepts, including backward design and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) techniques, and assist you in applying these concepts to craft a structural outline of a course you will (or would like to) teach in the future. It would greatly benefit participants to come to this workshop with an idea for a course they are interested in designing in mind so we can help you make tangible progress toward this goal. This workshop, while taught by different facilitators, will cover the same material as the other ATW: Course Design workshop from this semester. Rather than attending both, you should select one.
