In this series, we will cover: critically reading scholarly works and effectively taking notes; synthesizing your scholarly research; building your argument; and trimming and clarifying your prose. Part 3: (Sept. 28) Building Your Argument. Carefully and effectively presenting an argument is a key component of academic writing. In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to: structure an argument; utilize persuasive writing techniques; and rebut opposing arguments. Come prepared to engage in activities applying the skills and techniques we discuss. After this workshop, you will understand how to effectively present evidence in support of your position.
