Malena is a fourth-year Ph.D. student and NSF Graduate Research Fellow in Astronomy. Her research explores the nature and diversity of planetary systems, focusing on how asteroids and comets in the solar system and beyond can inform our understanding of planetary system evolution. She holds a B.A. in Astrophysics and B.A. in Physics from UC Berkeley, and she is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and both oral and written scientific communication. She co-hosts the podcast astro[sound]bites, regularly engages in public speaking for both academic and general audiences, and has extensive experience writing abstracts, manuscripts, and grant/fellowship proposals.
