Sooyun is a first year McDougal Graduate Teaching Fellow and a fourth year PhD student in the Department of Chemistry. Her research work in the Miller Group focuses on the development of peptide-catalyzed enantioselective chemical reactions that produce medicinally-relevant heterocyclic compounds.
Sooyun completed her undergraduate studies at Swarthmore College before coming to Yale, where she has been a TF for CHEM 221, 222L and 226L. She is also passionate about STEM outreach and have participated in various Pathways to Science events where she enjoys presenting her research to young students.
As a McDougal Teaching Fellow, she hopes to engage in discussions of student-oriented teaching practices and highlight the importance of active learning and inclusive classroom strategies in the STEM community.
