Poorvu Center Releases 2024-25 Annual Report

Sterling Memorial Library against a blue sky.

Last year marked a meaningful milestone for the Poorvu Center with the celebration of our tenth anniversary.  Throughout the year, our team organized community events to commemorate this anniversary and showcase our collaborative work with students, faculty, and colleagues across Yale.  From insightful panel discussions and workshops to engaging showcases demonstrating our impact near and far, the role of the Poorvu Center as a trusted partner was clear.

The Poorvu Center has also leaned into our role as a leader in teaching and learning by facilitating thoughtful discussions about AI’s increasing influence on higher education, evaluating new tools, and piloting projects that align with faculty needs and ethical responsibility.  We partnered with Yale Library to establish a joint leadership position that supports the integration of AI in teaching and research across the humanities.  We will continue to explore this evolving technology in partnership with faculty and students in the years to come.

This year, the Poorvu Center launched a redesigned website that expanded our reach to students, faculty, and educators around the world.  Simultaneously, we introduced a new strategic plan to guide our work over the next three years.  We also successfully implemented Yale’s Global Learner Access and Support System (GLASS), transforming how non-degree online learners connect with the university.  Achieving this number of major accomplishments in one year is noteworthy.  This collective dedication propels us forward in the pursuit of a better world through teaching and learning.

In our next decade, we look forward to advancing teaching and learning excellence across Yale while serving as a model for student-centered, equitable teaching.
