This workshop will offer strategies on how to write a diversity statement that both rings true and is effective when you are writing your job and fellowship applications. We will address the following: What is a diversity statement? What differentiates it from a personal statement and teaching statement? How might a committee use a diversity statement to evaluate an applicant’s qualifications and assets? Should you always write one if asked? By working through clear definitions, reflective activities, and examples from the field, this workshop will help you consider how your professional and personal experiences have prepared you to contribute to diversity and equity measures in institutions of higher learning—and in your next job!
