Yale University was a major site of eugenic organizing & research. Yale faculty, alumni and administrators helped found the American Eugenics Society in the 1920s and brought its headquarters to the New Haven Green in 1926. During this time, Yale affiliates with roots Eugenics in many disciplines including biology, economics, geography, anthropology, psychology, medicine, law, and environmental studies contributed to the American Eugenics movement. During this lunchtime, in-person discussion, hosted by Poorvu Faculty Fellow Daniel Martinez HoSang, participants will learn about confronting the history of Eugenics in their social science and STEM disciplines and how doing so can benefit their classroom teaching.
