Event Description

Are you interested in making your classroom more inclusive for first generation and low-income students? In this workshop, we will discuss approaches to equitable teaching, focusing on experiences of this diverse and growing student population. We will draw on evidence-based studies in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to come up with actionable strategies for supporting first generation and low-income student populations. Further, we will identify best practices for helping our students navigate the hidden curriculum and for making our classrooms accessible and inclusive spaces where all learners can succeed. For more information, please contact Valeriia Mutc (valeriia.mutc@yale.edu) and Ketty Munyenyembe (ketty.munyenyembe@yale.edu).

Please note: Advanced Teaching Workshops (ATWs) count toward the requirements for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP). ATWs are designed as deeper dives into a given topic, and are especially appropriate for participants with prior experience. If you are new to the subject matter, you may be more comfortable starting with an ITW, like “Identity in the Classroom,” but this is not required.… .

This workshop will be held in person.
