Pedagogical Partner

The Pedagogical Partner participates in the Pedagogical Partnership Program in which they are paired with a Yale faculty member to act as a consultant for the faculty member’s course for the entire semester. Pedagogical partners observe their faculty partner’s class on a weekly basis and take observational notes, meet with the faculty partner regularly to discuss how pedagogical goals are being achieved in the classroom, and meet regularly with a Poorvu Center staff member to offer feedback on the partnership and the program overall.

Academic Strategies Mentor

The Academic Strategies program provides information, workshops, and individual and small group mentoring to Yale College students on the skills and strategies central to becoming active, empowered learners at Yale. Academic Strategies Mentors are peer academic coaches who help their fellow students develop and adapt strong strategies for use in their day-to-day college lives.

Coursera Teaching Assistant

As a teaching assistant for this online course, you will work collaboratively with Poorvu Center project coordinators and faculty to guide and support subsequent cohorts of learners. Your main role will be to serve as a “Community Mentor” in the course. Community mentors are learners who, after completing a course on Coursera, generously give their time to guide and support learners in subsequent sessions of a course.

McDougal Graduate Teaching Fellow

The McDougal Graduate Teaching Fellows at the Poorvu Center lead programs on effective and innovative teaching, develop teaching resources, and provide individual consultations for graduate student instructors at Yale. The Poorvu Center emphasizes teamwork as well as individual participation.
