Event Description
This four-part workshop series introduces core pedagogical principles and explores how they apply to teaching music in various contexts. We will cover a wide range of topics, with a particular emphasis on reframing the discipline through antiracist/antisexist pedagogy. This series is designed for teachers of music in all forms, including large classroom environments (lectures and ensemble structure), small group discussions (seminars and sectionals), and one-on-one instruction (office hours and private lessons). We welcome participants from across Yale University, regardless of school, who have an interest in working within the discipline of music. Participants are encouraged to bring in their own teaching experiences for workshopping and discussion; this workshop will provide a space for participants to discuss their own teaching, in preparation for the classroom and the job market alike. Participation in at least 3 of these sessions is required for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP). For more information, please contact Allison Chu (allison.chu@yale.edu) and Nathan Smith (nathan.smith@yale.edu).… . This four part event will take place: Fri 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29 — Event Details: https://yaleconnect.yale.edu/rsvp?id=2146401
