Event Description

Are you interested in making your classroom more equitable for first-generation and low-income students? In this workshop, we will discuss approaches to equitable teaching, focusing on the experiences of this diverse and growing student population. We will draw on evidence-based Universal Design for Learning (UDL) studies to develop actionable strategies for supporting first-generation and low-income student populations. Further, we will identify best practices for helping our students navigate the hidden curriculum and making our classrooms accessible, equitable spaces. For more information, please contact Ketty Kabengele (ketty.kabengele@yale.edu) and Katherine Ponds (katherine.ponds@yale.edu )… . Please note: Intermediate Teaching Workshops (ITWs) count toward the requirements for the CCTP. They do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC… . . For a refresher on key pedagogical terms you may have encountered in the Fundamentals or the CIRTL MOOC, please refer to our glossary: tinyurl.com/PedagogicalGlossary. — Event Details: https://yaleconnect.yale.edu/rsvp?id=2146908
