ITW: Grading and Rubrics

Event Description

How can we grade fairly, transparently, and in a way that motivates students? What grading tools and techniques foster student engagement and investment in learning? In this workshop, we’ll cover best practices for grading, common types of bias, and strategies for more equitable student assessment. In addition to reviewing current scholarship, participants will practice devising, implementing, and adapting rubrics to better serve their students. For more information, contact Richard Li (richard.li.rl839@yale.edu) and Micah Siegel (micah.siegel@yale.edu).… . Please note: Intermediate Teaching Workshops (ITWs) count toward the requirements for the CCTP. They do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC… . .
