Event Description

Assessment is a necessary part of the educational ecosystem, but it is also an area that can be particularly difficult to implement equitably and inclusively. This challenge is amplified by student anxiety about grades, which itself can be exacerbated by contemporary events and stressors. Do you want your students to learn and master content without the stress and emphasis on grades? Are you interested in incorporating inclusive and accommodating grading strategies while still ensuring students are learning well? This workshop will provide strategies to create inclusive assessments that both evaluate students fairly and provide valuable feedback. We will discuss setting clear expectations, considering lived experiences on student learning, and navigating grading using tools such as rubrics. If you have any questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to ketty.munyenyembe@yale.edu and jeffrey.fisk@yale.edu.

Please note: Intermediate Teaching Workshops do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC.

This workshop will be held in person.
