ITW: Play in the Classroom

Event Description

Play is a key component of learning, but it is often associated only with childhood education. What might play bring to the academy and higher education? Play allows learners to be engaged and relaxed, to make connections, explore, engage in repetitions and iterations, and use their imagination. In this ITW, we will explore how the classroom can be transformed so that it is conducive to playfulness as a mode of student learning in higher education. Participants will engage with a pedagogy of play and reflect on how to incorporate play in their own teaching. For more information please contact Pavla Rosenstein (pavla.rosenstein@yale.edu) and Will Johnson (will.johnson@yale.edu).… . This workshop will be held in person… . . Please note: Intermediate Teaching Workshops (ITWs) count toward the requirements for the CCTP. They do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC. For a refresher on key pedagogical terms you may have encountered in the Fundamentals or the CIRTL MOOC, please refer to our glossary: tinyurl.com/PedagogicalGlossary. — Event Details: https://yaleconnect.yale.edu/rsvp?id=2261779
