Title: “Models of Institutional Change to Improve Student Learning Through Evidence-Based Practice”

Abstract: Instruction using active learning strategies leads to improved student learning, a fact demonstrated in numerous studies. Yet as a community, we have difficulty implementing and maintaining evidence-based pedagogical change. Barriers include disciplinary culture, faculty reward systems, and faculty motivation and time. This talk will be an interactive discussion including your live responses, in which we will explore implementations of active learning at Boston University, how a MOOC can be used to create learning communities of PhDs and faculty, and frameworks for local cultural change that lead to faculty adaptation, adoption, and persistence.
