Jess Cruz
Jess (she/her) is a fourth year PhD student in the History Department. She researches the Latin American and Caribbean Right, cultures of reactionary exile violence and its many economic and political connections to Miami, Florida. She was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida and is a First Generation, Low Income Student (FGLI). Jess graduated with a BA in both History and Spanish & Latin American Cultures from Barnard College in 2020. She is passionate about making any step in your research and/or writing process one that centers engaging with readers and audiences outside of academia and/or outside of your field or discipline. Jess enjoys helping students work through writing out their research on social media platforms or through other public-facing mediums like podcast scripts for example.
