ATW: Course Design (2 sessions)

Event Description

Designing your own course from scratch can seem like a daunting task. Where to start, what to focus on, and how to build an inclusive and engaging curriculum are essential to successful course design. In this workshop, we will think through course objectives, how these objectives inform assessment design, and ultimately how these influence the week-by-week design of a course. We hope to draw on our strengths as an interdisciplinary community to think about the bigger picture of course design. Prior to each session we ask participants to complete 10-15 minute guided reflections on the course they wish to design. We also ask that participants be prepared to apply Bloom’s Taxonomy, Backwards Design, and Universal Design for Learning throughout both sessions, so please review these concepts from the Fundamentals of Teaching workshops here: tinyurl.com/CTLFundGloss. For more information, contact delfina.gonzalez@yale.edu or zion.perry@yale.edu.… . This workshop will be held in person on 3/5 and 3/7.… . Please note: Advanced Teaching Workshops (ATWs) count toward the requirements for the CCTP. This ATW is part of our Academic Job Search series, and is especially appropriate for participants preparing for the academic job market, but this is not required. — Event Details: https://yaleconnect.yale.edu/rsvp?id=2261794
