ATW: Quantitative Reasoning

Event Description

Since all Yale students are required to take Quantitative Reasoning courses, teaching a QR course often requires one to teach logic and analytical skills to students at varying levels of past experience with the material. In this ATW, we will discuss how to use the Socratic method and Bloom’s taxonomy to effectively guide students through challenging content and develop materials suitable for a wide range of quantitative backgrounds. To this end, we plan to engage with the evidence-based literature on the scholarship of teaching and learning. We welcome teaching fellows and instructors of all levels, as we will focus on strategies related to both classroom teaching and course development. For more information, contact Juli Gerdes (julianne.gerdes@yale.edu) or Sheridan Green (sheridan.green@yale.edu).
