Event Description

Over the last year, we’ve organized a series of workshops introducing the concepts and issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the U.S., and now it’s time to see how the work of DEIB is put into practice across Yale’s campus.  Join us for a virtual panel discussion with four Yale leaders from the Asian American Cultural Center, Office of LGBTQ Resources, Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning, and Student Accessibility Services. The panelists will discuss what their offices do, how they center the work of DEIB in their every day, the resources they offer, how international students & scholars are included in their work, and how you can seek support, find community, and get involved with their spaces.  The workshop will be moderated by Vanessa Bittner (she/her), OISS’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives Fellow. Vanessa is an international student herself and is a fifth year PhD student studying Sociology. Panelists: Gina Hurley (she/her/hers) Assistant Director, Graduate and Postdoctoral Teaching Development, Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning.  Joliana Yee (she/her/hers) Assistant Dean, Yale College,  Director, Asian American Cultural Center. Sam Byrd, Director, Office of LGBTQ Resources. Shami Tarlanov (he/him/his) Associate Director, Student Accessibility Services.

This talk will be held virtually over Zoom, and you must register to attend to receive the Zoom link. You can also submit questions for our panelists in your registration for the event.
