Event Description

Do you aim to foster an equitable and supportive classroom environment? Would you like to create accessible and engaging lesson plans, assignments, and activities for your students? In this four-part series, we will study evidence-based equitable teaching strategies (including Universal Design for Learning), learn how to create compassionate learning spaces, and engage with tools for equitable and transparent assessment. We will define equitable teaching, become familiar with the current scholarship on the topic, and critique how inequity shapes our classrooms and the university. Participants will outline a lesson plan or an activity for use in their classroom using the guiding principles covered in the workshop. Participation in at least three of these sessions is required for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP).
