ITW: Making Group Work Work

Event Description

Want to reinvigorate the dreaded group project for your classroom? In this workshop, we’ll be discussing research-backed strategies to facilitate active and collaborative work among students in classrooms across disciplines. Just as collaborative scholarship in our own work takes on new importance, how might we as teachers promote collaborative learning among our students? This workshop invites participants to think hard about best practices for promoting effective student group work. Participants will focus on strategies for active learning, devising and improving on sample group activities, and distinguishing between opportunities for group and independent work. For more information, please contact Ben Card (ben.card@yale.edu) and Taylor Dover (taylor.dover@yale.edu).… . This workshop will be held in person… . . Please note: Intermediate Teaching Workshops (ITWs) count toward the requirements for the CCTP. They do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC. For a refresher on key pedagogical terms you may have encountered in the Fundamentals or the CIRTL MOOC, please refer to our glossary: tinyurl.com/PedagogicalGlossary. — Event Details: https://yaleconnect.yale.edu/rsvp?id=2261659
