Event Description
In this workshop, we will engage with theoretical and practical approaches to supporting student mental health in the classroom. When learning environments are structured with the assumption that learners are able-bodied, neurotypical, and without mental health challenges, they create additional stress for students. Participants will explore ways that instructors across the disciplines can create compassionate classrooms that serve all students, and will practice redesigning course modules for accessibility and equity. We will additionally explore the responsibilities and limitations of instructors in dealing with mental health emergencies. Please contact Libby O’Neil (libby.oneil@yale.edu) and Richard Li (richard.li.rl839@yale.edu) with any questions or accessibility needs.… . This workshop will be held in person… . . Please note: Intermediate Teaching Workshops (ITWs) count toward the requirements for the CCTP. They do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC.
