The availability of generative AI tools like ChatGPT that produce text, image, video, or code has expanded. The power of these tools to answer complex questions and generate coherent text continues to improve, and they’ve recently been integrated into widely used software like Google Docs and Microsoft Office. These developments have led to questions about how students are using these tools and how faculty can respond to best support their students’ learning. This one-hour zoom session introduces participants to generative AI tools. During the session, participants will learn how these tools work as large language models, develop strategies for talking to students about them, compare AI-generated and student-produced writing, and reflect on their course assignments in light of what they have learned.. .
