Event Description
The power of AI chatbots like ChatGPT to write fluent answers to complex questions continues to improve, and recent integrations into software like Google Docs and Microsoft Office has made them more widely available. This has led to questions about how students are using these tools and how faculty can respond to best support their students’ learning. Part I (2-3 p.m.) of this in-person session introduces participants to AI chatbots. We’ll practice using these tools together, develop strategies for talking to students about them, and conclude by creating or revising an assignment from one of your courses. After a brief break, Part II (3:15-4:00 p.m.) explores the potential of AI chatbots to support instructors’ research. We’ll then consider how these AI-supported research methods can help instructors invite students to engage in their respective disciplines. This in-person session assumes a baseline knowledge of AI chatbots (which can be gained in part 1) and will feature examples from Yale colleagues of what’s possible with AI. Faculty are welcome to sign up for either or both sessions… . . The Poorvu Center is committed to hosting inclusive and accessible events that allow all participants to fully engage. Please contact us faculty.teaching@yale.edu if there are ways we can support accommodations or for questions about inclusion.. . — Event Details: https://yaleconnect.yale.edu/rsvp?id=2139090
