Amanda Valdespino
Amanda holds an M/S in Education with a focus on Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies, along with a B.A in English and Communications, both earned from Florida State University. She worked at the University of Miami for 4.5 years in education development. In her role she supported faculty with their pedagogical goals through developing programming, providing 1:1 consultations, and collaborating across other academic units on strategic initiatives. She had a particular focus on equity and effective uses of educational technology. She also taught a first-year directions course for students at UM, which was a seminar course that equips incoming first-year students with the necessary skills and support to transition into university life
Amanda’s interests include helping faculty integrate learner-centered approaches to best support all students, with a special emphasis on universal design for learning (UDL) and equity-minded teaching practices. As a Latine, first-generation college graduate, she consistently reflects on how her social identities intersect with her role. She is committed to fostering connections within the Yale Community in order to advance accessible teaching.
