Devon Barker
Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Devon has a strong background in education and technology. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Elementary Education and his Master’s from Concordia University in Nebraska in STEAM Education. Devon is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Social and Emotional Learning from National University.
Before coming to Yale, Devon spent twelve years in the K-12 education space, working as a math teacher and technology teacher. Most recently, he served as the Innovation and Technology Manager for a K-8 school, where he oversaw all technology, transitioned the school to a single system for financials, LMS, CMS, and SIS, and spearheaded various innovative projects while also teaching students in the school’s Innovation Center.
Devon is now an Assistant Director of Educational Technology at the Yale Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. He joined the team in May of 2024 to support the Canvas LMS and the additional external applications that integrate into the LMS at multiple levels of the university. In this role, Devon will offer both technological and pedagogical support to faculty and staff, with a strong emphasis on enhancing student experience through technology. Through his experiences in K-12 education, Devon has continued to grow his passion for teaching and technology, and he is excited to continue that path at Yale in the Poorvu Center.
