John Harford
John Harford is the Director of Education Technology and Media in the Yale Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning at Yale University, supporting the use of various technologies for academics including lecture capture, classroom technologies, and online programs. He also manages the technical operations of the Poorvu Center located at 301 York Street in Sterling Memorial Library in New Haven, CT. He holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts, and an MA in Instructional Technology & Media from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
John has been at Yale since March 2014, and has led the Poorvu Center’s projects including the successful Panopto pilot in 2015, utilized emerging technologies in course engagements, and led the technical design and installation for the Poorvu Center’s move to Sterling Memorial Library in January 2016. He has over 20 years’ experience in the technology and media fields.
John believes the use of technology for instruction must be driven by the ideas and needs of both instructors and students and is excited to be part of the Poorvu Center’s growing partnerships across the Yale community.
