Lucas Swineford
Lucas Swineford, Executive Director of Digital Education at the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning, received his B.A. in English from Fairfield University and a Master’s in Interactive Media from Quinnipiac University. In the role as Executive Director of Digital Education, Lucas and his teams are responsible for working with each of the University’s professional schools and the Faculty of Arts & Sciences to initiate, build, and maintain projects that leverage technology to support teaching goals and University strategy.
Under Lucas’ leadership, his teams have been a guiding force behind the University-wide transition to the Canvas learning management system, the launch of the Yale PA Online degree program, the introduction of the first ever Yale College online courses for credit through Yale Summer Session, the creation of numerous fully-online professional certificate programs in the School of Public Health and the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and Yale’s award-winning MOOC portfolio which has reached nearly 2 million learners around the world. Lucas also oversees the Yale Broadcast Studio. This team has transformed under his leadership to respond to a fast-growing need to collaborate with faculty to create high-quality educational media for public dissemination and residential learning.
