Location of Event:

Event Description

This workshop offers an introduction to disability as part of the classroom experience. What defines disability in our classroom spaces? How does disability impact how students and instructors teach and learn? Participants in this workshop will learn the foundations of disability and accommodations, reflect on their own teaching practices, and explore teaching strategies that enable the success of disabled students. This ITW is designed to prepare participants for further work in the ATW: Disability in the Classroom on Thursday, March 9th. For more information, please contact lauren.saunders@yale.edu and sara.misgen@yale.edu.

Please note: Intermediate Teaching Workshops (ITWs) count toward the requirements for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP). They do not presuppose any previous engagement with the topic, but will draw on topics mentioned in the Fundamentals of Teaching/the CIRTL MOOC. For a refresher on key pedagogical terms you may have encountered in the Fundamentals or the CIRTL MOOC, please refer to our glossary: tinyurl.com/PedagogicalGlossary.

This workshop will be held in person.
