Help with Language Study

Resources for your language-learning journey

In order to support our community of linguistically diverse students, the Poorvu Center, in partnership with other academic programs, provides resources to support language learners at various levels.

Dr. Lynda Paul and a group of Academic Strategies mentors.

“Language study is essential for becoming a responsible global citizen and for connecting with other humans.”

Lynda Paul, Associate Director, Office of Educational Opportunity

Language Tasting

Sponsored by the Academic Strategies Program and the Center for Language Study, Language Tastings introduce students to the variety of languages and cultures that can be studied at Yale through a series of expert-taught, multilingual microlessons.

An instructor and an Academic Strategies Mentor hold their palms together; a screen behind them reads, "Namaste."

Center for Language Study

The Center for Language Study welcomes language learners to a virtual and physical space devoted to the study of languages, providing resources for students of languages, as well as support for nonnative English speakers.

Weekly Writing Partners

Students who are English language-learners may benefit from requesting a Weekly Writing Partner.

Two Writing Partners sit at a table with a laptop open. They are smiling and laughing.
