Learning Communities

Our postdoctoral scholar teaching communities are multi-session events that allow cohorts of participants to have sustained teaching discussions over four or more meetings.

Teaching Courses and Seminars

Our teaching courses and seminars are meant to be a foundational introduction to teaching topics that prepare participants for their future teaching careers. Open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, these offerings count toward the introduction to teaching requirement of the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP), and are often where postdoctoral scholars start the CCTP. We regularly offer:

  • Equitable Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities
  • Scientific Teaching Fellows Course (BBS 879 or PHYS 530)

Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) Courses

In the semesters that we are not running our teaching courses or seminars, postdoctoral scholars often begin the CCTP with the An Introduction to Evidence-based Undergraduate STEM Teaching(Link is external), an asynchronous course offered through the CIRTL Network. You can also take The College Classroom(Link is external) for the CCTP, which is a 12-week virtual survey of evidence-based teaching practices.

Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars Learning Communities

Learning communities count toward the requirements for the CCTP and provide a structured space for instructors to share their experiences, reflect on their practice, and refine their ideas through engagement with pedagogical scholarship and their colleagues.
