Through workshops and conversations across the university, the Poorvu Center has identified two priorities about the impact of large language models on teaching and learning at Yale:
-
LLMs are Already Changing How Research and Other Work are Done
Yale students need opportunities to understand these changes and, where appropriate, to experiment with emerging methods.
This website is intended to support conversations that attend to both priorities. The right balance between them is not a fixed point: it will vary across fields and for students at different stages of learning. We expect that balance to develop through conversations among students and faculty—and to change as the technology and our understanding of its effects continue to change.
