Headshot of Adam Reid Sexton, Trumbull Residential College Writing Tutor

Adam Reid Sexton

Trumbull College
I work with Yale undergrads to improve any and all writing they may do, no matter the context.

Adam is the Trumbull Residential College Writing Tutor. He is eager to work one-on-one with undergraduates on writing of every kind, from academic papers to creative writing to fellowship applications. He has taught in Yale’s English Department since 2013 and has served as Trumbull’s Writing Tutor since 2014.

Before Yale, Adam studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and creative writing at Columbia University. He worked first as a reviewer of music and movies for an independent newspaper in Philadelphia, and then on the News Desk at TIME magazine. Since 1993 he has been teaching writing, at Parsons, NYU, and Columbia. At Yale his courses include The Craft of Fiction and Writing About Music.

Adam enjoys constructing eclectic playlists. He also likes visiting small regional art museums and attending productions of Shakespeare’s plays, ideally with his wife, Kira, and his son, Alexander. His favorite pizza restaurant is Bufalina, in Guiford, CT.
