Clare Ankawi is an Associate Director in the Poorvu Center’s Educational Technology team. She primarily supports the Canvas learning management system and the external applications that integrate into Canvas. In this capacity, Clare acts as the functional service owner of Canvas, working with the rest of her team and partnering closely with ITS and URO to maintain and enhance the online environment for teaching and learning. In addition to this role of supporting technology, she also engages with faculty and staff to support their understanding of the LMS and its effective use in the classroom. Clare has an interest in back-end technical support and system infrastructure, particularly through the lens of accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion. She believes that embedding these values behind the scenes will help ensure they are reflected in our work at the university. Clare has been at Yale since 2019.

Before Yale, Clare served as the Learning Technologies Analyst at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. In this role, she supported faculty, staff, and students in the implementation and management of its instructional technologies. Clare earned her Master of Education in Computer Education Technology from Ohio University Patton College of Education and her Bachelor of Arts in Information Management Systems from Wayne State University.

Outside of work, Clare enjoys knitting, playing tabletop games, and exploring new foods. Her favorite treat near Yale’s campus is ice cream from Arethusa
