I support students in their writing projects, working with them at any stage of the process.

Pam Newton is the Residential College Writing Tutor for Pauli Murray College, working with undergraduate students on writing assignments across the college, as well as applications and extra-curricular writing projects. She also teaches courses in the English department, with a focus on creative and journalistic non-fiction essay writing. Some past course topics at Yale and elsewhere have included city life, travel and tourism, dramatic literature, American literature, James Baldwin, and Toni Morrison.

Pam writes for magazines as an essayist and art/culture critic. Her articles have appeared in publications including the Atlantic, LitHub, Time Out New York, the New York Times Magazine, the Huffington Post, American Theatre, and others. Prior to Yale, she spent a decade working in the Writing Center at Cooper Union, first as a tutor and later as the Humanities Writing Fellow and then the Director of the Writing Fellows Program.

Outside of Yale, Pam spends much of her time doing yoga, riding her bike, being obsessed with her dog (and volunteering for the rescue organization where she got him), traveling, and commuting to New Haven from Brooklyn, a place she seems unable to leave.
