Paula serves as an Associate Director of Undergraduate Writing and Tutoring at the Poorvu Center. Her primary duties are hiring, training, and mentoring the graduate and undergraduate Writing Partners who offer 1:1 writing support for Yale’s undergraduates. Paula is especially interested in anti-racist pedagogy and also helps provide writing support for incarcerated students through the Yale Prison Education Initiative. She has been at Yale since 2021.
Before Yale, Paula worked as an Assistant Director at, first, the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Writing Center and then the Writing & Media Center at Iowa State University. She has been teaching composition and working closely with undergraduates for over 15 years and received her Ph.D. in English from UGA.
Outside of work, Paula loves traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with her English bulldog Sam and orange cat Peaches.
