Ulas is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at Yale University. His research focuses on building robots that can understand human instructions and know when to ask for help. By combining advances in AI with real-world experiments, he works on building robots that are safer, more reliable, and easier for everyday people to interact with. In teaching, he is especially interested in preparing students for learning in the age of AI. Helping them think critically about when and how to use AI tools, how these technologies shape creativity and problem-solving, and how to stay grounded in core skills while embracing new possibilities.
