Whitney is a a PhD candidate in Public Health and a McDougal Graduate Teaching Fellow for the Yale Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. She facilitates workshops for graduate and postdoctoral instructors to build a pedagogy of active and equitable teaching practices. Whitney is particularly interested in ensuring that every student feels that their voice can shift conversations within the classroom, Yale, and academia at large.
Before starting her PhD at Yale, Whitney attended City College of San Francisco and received her BS in Psychology from University of California, Davis. She completed her Masters in Public Health from Yale School of Public Health in 2020. She is currently writing a mixed-methods dissertation on how climate disaster displacement and rental evictions impact the health of people with diabetes.
Outside of work, Whitney spends time with loved ones either in front of a table of home-cooked meals or outside in the sun or snow. She is always looking for new hike recommendations – near and far!
