Yaprak (she/her) is a Graduate Assistant Director at Yale College Writing Center and a Ph.D. candidate in the combined program of American Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Broadly speaking, her research explores the relationship between feminicide and neoliberalism, focusing on the invisible value of women’s social reproductive labor and the rise of new masculinities. Her experiences as an ESL teacher, academic writing instructor, teaching fellow, research fellow, writing partner, translator, editorial assistant, and poet have granted her a multi-faceted pedagogical vision and a writer-oriented approach to the creative process. She is especially interested in improving the experiences of first-generation, low-income students in academic settings. Her students at Yale have described her as “inspiring”, “intentional,” “authentic,” “knowledgeable,” and “kind,” among other things. Yaprak is committed to being deserving of their support and aims to prove them right in every step of her career.
