Panorama

Panorama assists instructors in building a more inclusive learning environment, and improve the student experience by helping them take clear control of course content with usability, accessibility and quality in mind. Panorama provides instructors with detailed information about the accessibility of their course materials, and steps that can be taken to improve the accessibility of course content—including a remediation engine in Panorama that can fix many of the most common accessibility barriers in course files.

Why use Panorama?

Panorama allows instructors to quickly and easily assess their content for accessibility, and take the necessary steps to remediate any inaccessible materials. Panorama also provides students and instructors with alternative formats of their content (e.g. braille, tagged PDF, and enhanced vision). Creating accessible content provides for a more universal, equitable learning experience for all learners.

Use Cases for Panorama

A non-exhaustive list outlining what instructors can use Panorama to facilitate include:

  • Viewing a file’s accessibility score
  • Using the accessibility report to diagnose and remediate issues with course content
  • Download course content in alternative, accessible formats

What will my students see?

Students cannot see the accessibility score for a resource in Canvas—they can only download an alternative format.

There are numerous options for users to download the available alternative formats of a file upload in a Canvas course. Please reference the following support document to view Panorama from a student’s perspective.
