Undergraduate Writing and Tutoring

The Poorvu Center’s Undergraduate Writing and Tutoring (UWT) team hires, trains, and supports the over two hundred peer mentors who provide students with exceptional resources for writing, learning, and thriving at Yale.

Writing

The Undergraduate Writing and Tutoring team oversees a variety of services designed to help undergraduates effectively communicate their ideas with confidence. Residential College Tutors provide professional advice on drafts during pre-scheduled appointments and Writing Partners host drop-in hours seven days a week during the fall and spring semesters. Learning

The Undergraduate Writing and Tutoring team at Poorvu also helps arrange tutoring when needed for many courses at Yale, especially for introductory STEM courses. After talking to the course instructor, students in any Yale College course can also reach out to use for additional help.

Thriving

A final, expansive branch of the team is the Office of Educational Opportunity, which offers a range of resources for Yale undergrads. Programming includes mentoring, workshops, and special events designed to inspire academic exploration and community building.
