Faculty Learning Communities

Semester-long opportunities for faculty to  reflect on their teaching with other faculty.

Semester-Long Learning Communities

The Poorvu Center offers semester-long faculty learning communities to support community and reflection around teaching practices through the sharing of strategies and resources. The learning communities convene every 2-3 weeks throughout the semester and are tailored to the needs of the group. For those participating in the Faculty Teaching Academy for new faculty, attending 5 out of 6 sessions fulfills the learning community component. The deadline to register for our Fall 2026 learning communities is Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Please reach out with any questions (faculty.teaching@yale.edu).

Fall 2026 Learning Communities

The STEM and Quantitative Social Sciences Learning Community brings together faculty from the STEM and quantitiative fields together to share challenges and ideas around teaching. The exact topics that will be discussed will depend on the interests of the group, making each semester a unique learning opportunity for participants.

Register by September 8, 2026.

The Fall 2026 Teaching With Collections Learning Community will bring together faculty who are exploring the possibility of utilizing the collections to enhance student learning in their courses. Participants will get an opportunity to visit various collections and experience hands-on demonstrations within those spaces. While the exact dates are still being coordinated with the collections staff who will help to facilitate our visits, we know that they will be on either Thursdays or Fridays in the afternoon.

Register by September 8, 2026 to share your interest in the program and your availability on Thursday or Friday afternoons. We will work to create a schedule that works for as many people as possible.
